Why does it hurt us as Christian parents to see Satan in EVERYTHING?!

I am beyond myself as a Christian, when I see Facebook groups that claim that everything from barcodes to AI are after us. And oddly enough I’m sure this isn’t anything new in the Christian community even as far back as to the 5th century A.D. People love to speculate and discuss their latest ideas. While scripture clearly teaches that Satan is real and active, there is a subtle, but serious danger in believing that he is in everything.

As Christians we a called to walk in truth, in what the Bible teaches- not fear and confusion. Let’s look deeper into why it can be spiritually unhealthy to attribute Satan into everything.

Psalms103:19  states only God is sovereign over things; even Satan is below the greatest angels. When we assume that Satan is in everything that we see that we can touch then we take away credit from God's sovereignty. And not only that, but we are bringing Satan up to such a high level in our lives that he is able to control us from inside to everything around us that we observe. What kind of life is that when he has such power. Instead, as Christians, we should be teaching our kids and raising them to see the Lord in everything that he has done and everything that is in the world instead of the corruption that Satan has created. Obviously as Christians we understand that this is a fallen world, and sin is happening all the time because of it.

Romans8:20-22 states just that:

20 Fort the creation was subjected to frustration, not by

its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected

it, in hope 21 that[a] the creation itself will be liberated

from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom

and glory of the children of God.22 We know that the

whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of

childbirth right up to the present time.

Christians need to understand that many of the mistakes we blame on Satan often come from our own choices and the consequences that follow. Instead of honestly addressing our anger, temptation, or lack of self-control, we may say, “The devil made me do it.” What a childish attempt to justify the wrong that you did.  But Scripture calls us to examine our hearts and take responsibility for our actions. God wants us to be mindful of what we do. We are called to meditate on him and how to live life according to his word. Yes, maybe you were tempted by the devil, but you made that choice all on your own.

Why on earth do we allow Satan to gain so much credit for our lives!? People, stoooop!

A few days ago, I was scrolling through a Facebook mom’s group, reading what other moms were sharing. And I kid you not — some of these moms believe that the devil is trying to reach our families through everything from Alexa to the internet cables.

And while Scripture tells us that Satan will always pursue the Christian soul until the end of days, as Christian parents, we can’t live in a constant state of fear.. When we do, it wears us down spiritually and makes us parent from anxiety instead of wisdom. It shifts our focus from God’s authority to becoming the enemy’s pawns.

The enemy absolutely wants to distract and discourage believers from the new Christian to the seasoned Bible study leader Christian. But God didn’t call us to panic. He called us to discernment, peace, and a sound mind.

Being an exhausted Christian doesn’t allow us to grow in our faith. When we are exhausted we become flight or fight Christians who don’t have the time of day to read our Bibles and give time to God as well as our families. I know I have had my exhausted moments and personally when I go through these phases of life I don’t become a better person. Ephisians 2 talks about the power that Satan tries to poses in our lives every day. We learn through this that we tend to follow our fleshly desires and when we do we stray away from God. These are the moments that Satan gains power in our every day decisions. We must not let his scemes to overpower our faith!

It can prevent personal growth and responsibility.

If we are honest, many of us have blamed Satan for our problems and felt like giving up in our lives. As humans, we often look for the quickest and easiest way out, especially when growth becomes difficult. We like to gloat in our success, but when we face setbacks, we are tempted to blame everything around us instead of examining ourselves first.

Blaming Satan for every struggle can keep us from growing and taking responsibility. Rather than addressing our anger, choices, or lack of self-control, we may say, “Satan made me do it,” or blame some other outside force.

Do you wake up every day knowing that your life is in God’s hands or do you worry about how the day will end? I am the kind of person who worries a lot, since I was little. My husband tries to remind me that worrying will never make things go away or make them better. Instead it makes me lose track of what I need to accomplish. When we live like this, we are always looking out for what can come for us instead of understanding that Jesus is our Shepard. Yes, I do this. I will not preach a message and not admit to my mistakes when it comes to my faith. I do think that when I try to take over my fear and life without letting it go and giving it to God I get more stressed and lose sight of what is most important. I forget all the amazing things that God had done for me when I was younger. Like the gospel tells us in 1 John 4:4 “Greater is HE who is in your than he who is in the world”. God does not call His people to paranoia, but to peace. While we are told to stay spiritually alert (1 Peter 5:8) we are also told to trust in God’s protection and victory.” I have to admit that I don’t always live by this, instead I go to bed fearing that something terrible can happen to my kids and then my imagination takes over.

But, we have to understand that we cannot allow ourselves to be distracted by what God wants for us. We cannot see Satan in everything because it also…… Distracts us from God’s Work within us

When we see Satin in all the parts of our lives, we misinterpret God shaping us through our circumstances with Satan coming after us! I know personally when I was a younger Christian and life got a little harder, I took it as Satan trying to come after me, rather than thinking that I was being molded for what was to come. I read the Bible and still allowed myself to get distracted.

The other day I was scrolling through social media and decided to look into my Christian moms app and noticed that there are two kinds of women out there; those that seek the lord and find ways to navigate the hardships and those that tell everyone how satan is ruining their lives and how he is sending people to them to do his bidding in their lives. It saddans me to see this because I can see through thier writitng that they are worn down with this type of thinking and slowly getting pulled away from the love of Jesus when the trials come for them. But all these trials and hardships are what help our souls to grow.

‍ ‍

1-     Trials can produce perseverance- think about it like going to the gym. You grow muscles when they rip and have to repair. Your faith is the same. In order to grow your faith, you must go through trials.   James 1:2-4: "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." [1, 2]

‍ ‍

  Romans 5:3-4: "Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope." [1]

‍ ‍

  Hebrews 12:1-2: Encourages believers to "run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith." [1, 2, 3]

‍ ‍

2-     Hebrews 12:6 tells us that Discipline comes from the Lord. Keeping your eyes on the goal is a Christian act. As long as it is Gods will.

‍ ‍

3-     And while we want to have a peaceful life as Christians Challenges deepen our faith.

‍ ‍

I can’t count how many time through the day I think, “oh shoot I was going to read my Bible… but the kids…” or “I was going to read my Bible and do a Bible study …. But my list of “to do’s”!    I think every mom… and dad, understand this feeling. My husband has come to me before telling me that he is worried if he is a good dad because he has back problems and can’t always play catch with our son. Because of this I have had a pastor pray over my husbands back as make Satan or whatever evil he has in his life to be removed to heal his back. This pastor in the moment made me feel that some Christians believe that if you have God you will live the Benny Hinn Christianity. And if you don’t know about his ministry just look him up.

It over-simplifies our Spiritual Reality

‍ ‍

If we look at the world and see Satan behind every corner, we oversimplify Spiritual Reality. If you have ever gone to church or a Bible study, you will hear about the spiritual warfare, and how much greater it is than we can imagine. The Bible presents a balanced view of the spiritual life.  If you read about what heaven was like, you find out the Lucifer was the highest angel, all angels exist in a hierarchical order according to the Bible.

A Healthier, Biblical perspective

‍ ‍

Why are we as Christians allowing ourselves to see the Devil everywhere? Who are we really as Christians if this is what we focus on? I believe that a lot of this is due to people sitting on the internet more and reading their Bibles (with understanding) more. I have listened to plenty of people on-line who take what the Bible says and skews it just enough to make it seem evil. I have seen how the internet, especially a platform, like Facebook and Instagram can really control your view on everything! I have seen this in my own life. What does God ask us to do ?

‍ ‍

  • Take Responsibility for you actions (Galatians 6:5)

‍ ‍

  • Trust in Gods sovereignty (Romans 8:28)

‍ ‍

  • Fous on Christ’s victory (Colossians 2:15)

‍ ‍

Remember stan isn’t a little thing with a pointy tail that you see on tv. When you read the Bible it says that he is beautiful , I mean his name is Lucifer! Imagine being so amazing before the fall, and losing it all. His goal is not always to scare you, but to pull you away from God.
